Up for the Schwartz!

Belatedly, I thought I would share the good news that Sorrow's Knot is up for the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz award. Here's the whole shortlist.

The Schwartz is a peach of a Canadian award. Important book people make a shortlist, and then even more important book people -- in the form of a class of eighth graders -- pick a winner. How terrific is that? I been a judge for awards and I know how much work and responsiblity these young people are tackling. Whether or not they end up picking my book, I'm so grateful that they're reading me, and just plain tickled to be read.

So, thank you to the Ontario Arts Foundation, the Schwartz family, the Ontario Arts Council, and the eighth graders of Aldergrove Public School in Markham, Ontario. Stay tuned!
