haiku (barbed wire)

shocked into seeing --
on the barbed wire
tiny webs catching dew

Or possibly,

on one barb of the wire
tiny web
catches dew

to make the shock implicit. Implicit is good in haiku ...

Anyway, this haiku is sort of an orphan from Ghost Maps, the WWII poetry book. I remember jotting something down about the dewed webs on barbed wire -- though what exactly I can't recall, and those notebooks are lost.

Anyway, my magpie mind has an eye cocked for haiku again, and it spotted this.

I like "the shocked into seeing" version best.
